Popular British 38-year-old heavyweight slugger and ex-challenger Derek Chisora (33-12, 23 KOs) has decided to retire. He reported this BT Sports channel.
Chisora was asked about his plans for the future – will we see him in the ring in the near future. The veteran answered succinctly: “I am retired. Yes, it’s official.”

British fans are not sure about this, because at the weekend Chisora made a solid batch with WBC champion compatriot Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) – he even promised Derek a fight if the duel with ex-champion Anthony Joshua (24-3) fell through , 22 KOs). Apparently it’s already broken.
Chisora in July won, perhaps, the most significant victory in his career – he beat Kubrat Pulev from Bulgaria, to whom he lost earlier. Prior to that, he had three defeats in a row against ex-world champions – Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and twice New Zealander Joseph Parker. Despite the status of an underdog, Chisora beat both of them well, lost competitively.
Derek’s only title attempt took place in 2012 – he lost on points to the age-old WBC champion Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko. Also in Chisora’s career are fights with ex-world champions Fury (two fights) and David Haye and ex-contenders Dillian Whyte (two fights), Arthur Shpilka and Carlos Takam.
In July, Chisora accepted Fury’s challenge: “Tell me where and when. I’m going to fight Wilder at the very least.” In August, negotiations began on this fight, but everything soon calmed down. Allegedly, Derek demanded more money – they gave 2 million pounds.
