Derek Brunson – Kevin Holland. Forecast and announcement for the fight

Main event at UFC on ESPN 21

The weekend is approaching, which means the UFC will delight fans of mixed martial arts with its tournament. On Sunday, located in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), the UFC Apex promotion center will host the UFC on ESPN 21 tournament, also known as UFC Vegas 22. We will not see stars of the first magnitude at the tournament, but there will be some potentially explosive fights.

Derek Brunson – Kevin Holland

In the main event of the tournament, a clash of experience and youth in the middleweight division will take place: 37-year-old Derek Brunson (21-7) will test 28-year-old Kevin Holland (21-5).

In the UFC, Brunson has only lost to very strong fighters like Yoel Romero, Robert Whittaker, Anderson Silva, Ronaldo Souza and Israel Adesanya. After losing to the latter in 2018, Brunson hasn’t suffered any more setbacks and is now on a three win streak. After passing Elias Theodora and Ian Heinisch, Derek inflicted his first career loss on top prospect Edmen Shahbazyan last August, stopping him with punches in the 3rd round.

Holland made UFC history last year by fighting five fights in a calendar year and winning every one of them. From May to December, the native of sunny California defeated Anthony Hernandez, Joaquin Buckley, Darren Stewart, Charlie Ontiveros and Ronaldo Souza. And of these five, only Stewart was not knocked out by Holland.

Prediction for the fight

Brunson is a pronounced striker with a powerful punch, while he has good grappling skills, thanks to which he successfully defends himself from takedowns on the ground. However, he loses to Holland both on the standing and on the ground.

Holland, unlike his rival, is in full bloom, he is fresher and hardier. Due to the pace and the presence of a powerful one-time blow, Kevin can outbid an opponent and eventually finish him, considering how badly Brunson holds the blow – he suffered 5 out of 7 defeats by knockout.

Holland wins by knockout in the 1st round
