Deontay Wilder is ready and willing to fight Ruiz after Helenius

Former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) has tentatively agreed to fight former Mexican unified champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) after 15 October will defeat Robert Helenius.

“We need to talk about things as they are relevant,” said Wilder. On October 15, I need to complete my task (against Helenius) in Brooklyn. Once I do that, and I always have confidence in myself… I will look forward to the fight against Ruiz, of course.”

Deontay also stated that he previously “blessed” Ruiz, but did not go into details yet:

“After our fight is finalized, I will tell him something that he doesn’t know about. I have already blessed him in the past. He doesn’t even know it. But I’ll tell him everything.”

Wilder may have cast a spell when Andy unexpectedly got the opportunity to fight Anthony Joshua in the early summer of 2019 and ended up sensationally stopping the clear favorite in the 7th round.

Earlier, the WBC released a scheme according to which the winner of the Wilder-Helenius fight must fight Ruiz to determine the official contender for the world title.

At the same time, Deontey also has an option with a duel against Oleksandr Usyk.
