Deontay Wilder: ‘I don’t want to scare Usyk’

As you know, the Ukrainian WBA / WBO / IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) is going to attend the upcoming fight between American ex-champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) and Finn Robert Helenius (31-3, 19 KOs), which will take place on the night of October 15-16 in Brooklyn (USA).

It is possible that the winner of this fight will become Usyk’s next opponent. In this regard, Wilder hopes that his eventual knockout victory will not make Alexander change his mind.

“I need to do what needs to be done. I don’t want to make big statements. And I don’t want to scare Usyk,” says Deontay. “He said he wanted the winner of our fight with Helenius. The last person to say that was Joseph Parker, but after I had a devastating knockout, he went the other way. Therefore, I need to do what needs to be done, and let’s hope that he (Usyk) is a man of his word. Then we’ll see a great fight next time.”

Wilder previously stated that he sees himself in the toughest fight in boxing. No, not against Usyk.
