De La Hoya wants to sign former Top Rank puncher

The head of the Golden Boy promotion company, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya expressed a desire to start cooperation with the unbeaten 25-year-old super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) from the USA Edgar Berlanga (20-0, 16 KOs), who is still known for a series of 16 in a row early victories in the first round from the start of a career.

Recall that Berlanga recently unexpectedly stopped working with Bob Arum’s Top Rank company.

“I want to turn to Berlanga: come talk to us, or we will visit you ourselves,” Oscar said. “He is a flamboyant fighter who had a spectacular career with Top Rank. But for some reason they broke up. Well, it’s time to move on.”

It is worth noting that with the increase in the level of opposition, Berlanga’s “terrifying strike power” instantly evaporated. So, he cannot win ahead of schedule – not only in the first round, but in principle – for four fights in a row.

Earlier, the British promoter Eddie Hearn answered the question about the possible signing of Edgar.
