Barclays Center, New York, USA. In the main fight of the show, the WBA World lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) American Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) knocked out the chatty compatriot challenger Rolando Romero (14-1, 12 KOs).
The first round was a tactical shootout. Both jabbed a lot, Davis hit the body several times.

In the 2nd three-minute period, Romero got excited: he started chasing the champion and even hit with a left hook, after which he laid him on the canvas with a wrestling technique. The referee did not record a knockdown. A very passive round from Davis – he frankly ran away from the challenger.

In the 3rd round, Romero hit the champion twice more with a left hook, but a lot more came in response.

Davis was clearly wary of Romero’s punching power and couldn’t find his distance. Things went a little better in the 5th round, but after one of the thrown punches, Davis’ face twisted into a grimace of pain.
In the 6th three-minute period the fight ended. The champion caught the challenger with a left hook, and he fell face-first against the ropes. He got to his feet not without problems, but he looked unimportant. Nice knockout.
