David Haye’s reaction to White’s victory over Franklin

Former world champion in two weight categories Briton David Haye gave a slight
interview for Michelle Joe Phelps after the end of the fight between former title contender British Dillian Whyte (23-3, 19 KOs) and previously unbeaten American Jermaine Franklin (21-1, 14 KOs).

David commented on the last fight, noted the actions of a little-known American fighter and expressed his opinion about a possible future rematch between Whyte and former British unified champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs).

— I would like to hear your reaction to Dillian Whyte’s performance against Jermain Franklin.

“I think it was a spectacular fight. I think Dillian could have picked up the pace a little more than he did. Could have made it much easier than it was. One judge had a draw, the others had about four rounds. I had an equal score before the final round. There were a few rounds that were close. I had a draw before the last round, and in the 12th round Dillian won, and by a big margin. So he finished strong and I have him as a winner.

We know why Eddie Hearn brought Anthony Joshua to ringside. Because they could potentially face each other in the next fight. Based on how they performed, if they meet, who is your favorite to win?

“Dillian won, close won. Anthony Joshua lost his fight, but not so close. The levels at which they fought were very different. Joshua fought the unified world champion. The same guy was unknown – Jermaine Franklin. Nobody knew who it was. But he turned out to be good. He had a really good fight. He has some skill, a handle, some character, although he showed a little weakness towards the end of the twelfth round for the first time in his career. I give him credit. Well, yes, let’s let them fight each other – Joshua and White. Just let them come out and fight. Forget it, let them fight.

“This is definitely a chance for one of them to recover.

– Very few people believe in White’s victory over Anthony Joshua on the strength of this performance. Once again, Joshua’s performance wasn’t great last time. But I say bring them together right now.

  • Revenge is better than any title, me and Joshua are like Ali Frazier – White
