David Haye explains why he bets on Joshua in a rematch with Usyk

Ex-conqueror of cruiserweight and heavyweight British David Haye still believes that his compatriot heavyweight Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) should defeat Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) in a rematch – will be held on August 20 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Hey doesn’t hide, which on the eve of the first fight he bet on his compatriot – in September last year in London (England), Usyk won by decision of the judges: “Yes, like last time, I bet on Joshua. Even if in the first fight he did not box as expected from him. But I still think that he has more chances in a rematch. He just chose the most unfortunate tactic against the left-hander: he let him dictate the distance and pace, he was too respectful when he worked at close range.

It is in this component that Haye expects to see something completely different in the performance of Joshua: “Please note that the referee never even issued a warning to him. I think Anthony rewatched that fight and realized what he needed to do differently. He has a great team behind him. Together, they must make sure that the second fight is a fight, not a boxing match. From the starting gong in the ring, he should not be a boxer, but a fighting dog. He must fight in such a way that he is constantly on the verge of a fine or even disqualification. That is, he must give everything to make the fight a power confrontation.

Despite the fact that all this is definitely not Joshua’s style, Haye is confident in his compatriot, because “Joshua is a special fighter, unlike others. Physically, he is a top-tier heavyweight. He just needs to make his physique part of his boxing style. He screwed it up last time and can’t afford to do it again. I believe that everything will work out for him.”

Meanwhile, the British prospect cruiser believes that Joshua has hunger again for a rematch with Usyk. And the legendary Mike Tyson said that: “the dude has balls!” British promoter Eddie Hearn talked about what would happen if Joshua lost to Usyk again.
