Darren Till reveals the real reason for leaving the UFC

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has asked to be released from his current contract with the organization in order to leave the USADA testing pool and seek treatment to prevent him from passing drug tests.

“I’ve been injured for the last two years,” the 30-year-old Briton told MMA Junkie. “It happened against Robert Whittaker when I hurt both knees, and before the fight against Derek Brunson I aggravated the injury. The left knee is not so bad, but on the right I tore the anterior and medial ligaments. I was no more than 80% ready for the fight with Du Plessis, and I suffered a defeat that should not have happened. ”

“Maybe I will leave the UFC for a couple of years, take care of my health, and then come back. I will try to heal my knees with injections that would not allow me to pass drug tests, but it is possible that I will have to undergo surgery. I have a good relationship with the UFC, not that they kicked me out. I asked and they let me go. Don’t expect me to go to another organization now and say, ‘My knees are fine.’ Let’s see how it goes. I need to heal my injuries first, and then I could do a couple of fights on the stand to earn some money before returning to the UFC.”

The news of Darren Till’s firing came two days ago. Together with the Briton, the UFC roster left the Russian fighter Zubaira Tukhugov, who has not yet commented on this matter.
