Dariush proposes to replace Oliveira with Porrier

UFC lightweight number four, Benil Dariush, is unsure if Charles Oliveira will show up and wouldn’t mind if Dustin Poirier replaces the Brazilian in a potential challenger bout.

“I prefer to fight Poirier,” Dariush wrote on the social network. “I have more confidence in Dustin that he will fight than Charles. Dustin can choose the weight and date, as long as it’s no later than July. I want to fight before I go completely gray.”

According to the American, the UFC made him understand that if his fight with Oliveira does not take place, Poirier will become the rival of the current division champion, Islam Makhachev.

“I asked them what if Oliveira doesn’t show up for the fight? Can I fight Makhachev in July if he is ready? But they replied that Islam should fight in October in Abu Dhabi. They also made it clear that the number one contender at the moment is Dustin Poirier,” Dariush told Submission Radio.

Recall that Benil Dariush and Charles Oliveira were supposed to meet on May 6 at UFC 288 in Newark, but due to an injury to the Brazilian, the fight was postponed. According to rumors, the fight could become part of the UFC 289 tournament, which will take place on June 10 in Vancouver.
