Daniel Cormier: “UFC 300 should be led by McGregor and Chandler”

With the main events of UFC 297, UFC 298 and UFC 299 already announced, things are looking up for the highly anticipated fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler to headline UFC 300, scheduled for April, former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier is confident.

“At UFC 100, there was Brock Lesnar and George St-Pierre,” the American said on the regular edition of his analysis program on ESPN. “At UFC 200, there was Brock and I was supposed to fight Jon Jones, but I ended up going up against Anderson Silva.”

“Anyway, those were big names, and UFC 300 should have a big name too, and we don’t have Brock Lesnar anymore. I think that leaves us with only one option – Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler should headline the tournament.”

“Michael Chandler coming over from Bellator to headline UFC 300? How crazy is that? He had one chance to make a first impression and he did very well. Plus, he’s going to fight Conor McGregor, and that automatically elevates him to the level he needs to be.”

A few days earlier, the head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White, officially announced the UFC 297, UFC 298, and UFC 299 numbered tournaments, which will headline title fights at middleweight, featherweight, and lightweight, respectively.
