Daniel Cormier: “The Pavlovic-Aspinall fight is better than the Jones-Miocic fight”

Former UFC double champion, Daniel Cormier, applauds the organization’s management’s decision to play out the interim UFC heavyweight title between Sergey Pavlovic and Tom Aspinall after the division’s current champion, Jon Jones, suffered an injury and pulled out of his fight against Stipe Miocic.

“We fell in love with the idea of a Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic fight because of what they both mean to the game, but we may overstate the importance of this fight,” Cormier said on another edition of his analysis program on ESPN. “Because Sergey Pavlovic vs. Tom Aspinall might be the best fight ever.”

“I’m not sure at this point the world is looking at the Jones-Miocic fight and thinking, ‘This is going to be amazing!’ Will what was amazing in 2015-2016 be amazing today? I can say for sure that the second-to-last event of UFC 295 will be amazing tonight because these two young heavyweights are incredible. It’s going to be an amazing, and probably more competitive fight than Jones vs. Miocic”

As a reminder, UFC 295 will take place on November 11 at the famous Madison Square Garden Arena in New York City.
