Daniel Cormier named the main threat to Sean O’Malley

With a title bout between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo set up, Sean O’Malley shouldn’t risk his number one bantamweight title by taking on Merab Dvalishvili, former two-weight UFC champion Daniel Cormier said.

“If I were Sean O’Malley, I would avoid one opponent – Merab Dvalishvili,” DC said in another video posted on his YouTube channel. “I think Merab and his pressing style of fighting can create problems for O’Malley. I’m not saying that Sean has no chance and that he can’t win, but given the struggle and pressure of Merab, this is not the best option for him.”

“Fighting Merab when he’s so close to a title fight could be a bad decision for Sean. Yes, he can win, for sure, and I believe this guy is as good as anyone. When Sean fights for the title, it will be a big moment for the UFC.”

A title fight between Sterling and Cejudo has not been officially announced, but the reigning UFC bantamweight champion has already confirmed that Triple Champion will be his next opponent.

As for Sean O’Malley, he had his last fight on October 22 at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, defeating Petr Yan by split decision and removing the Russian from the first position in the ranking, and Merab Dvalishvili extended his winning streak to eight matches in August, winning by unanimous decision against the legendary Jose Aldo.
