According to the American, to begin with, the Russian heavyweight should wait for the result of the title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, where he can act as a substitute.
“If I were Sergei Pavlovich, I would have done the same thing that he did when John Jones fought Cyril Gan,” the American said in the next issue of his analytical program on ESPN. “Weighed in and sat there as a substitute. He sat on the bench, made weight, and when John and Cyril got into a fight, he just dropped out, but he was paid for it.
“I would go back as a substitute because everything else would be a step backwards. Even a fight with Stipe Miocic would be a step back for Sergey Pavlovich, and I’m not sure if he needs to do it now.
Last weekend at UFC Fight Night 222 in Las Vegas, Sergey Pavlovich scored his sixth stoppage victory in a row, finishing with a TKO in the first round of Curtis Blades, after which he took second place in the organization’s heavyweight rating.
As for the fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, he should head the traditional annual UFC event in New York in November.
