Daniel Cormier called Jon Jones’ injury strange

After watching video of Jon Jones’ injury, former UFC double champion, Daniel Cormier, doesn’t understand how the current UFC heavyweight titleholder could tear a pectoral muscle in a simple wrestling situation.

“It’s unfortunate that he got injured, but something struck me as odd,” Cormier said in a video posted on his Youtube channel. “I saw the video and it looked like a standard wrestling stance that I’ve been in a thousand times. And I’ve never seen someone tear a chest muscle in a pretty simple wrestling situation.”

“Your body may not be ready for a certain type of work if you don’t do it. Jones may have wrestled before, but if you know Cyril Gang can’t defend against tekdowns, how much time are you going to spend doing that work? That’s the only thing I can think of.”

The day before, UFC head Dana White announced the cancellation of the fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, and the organization of a fight for the interim heavyweight title, which will be played by Russian Sergey Pavlovic and British Tom Aspinall on November 11 at UFC 295 in New York.

Jones, who will undergo surgery, will reportedly be out for at least eight months and will fight Miocicic upon his return.
