Daniel Cormier advises Alex Pereira to avoid Magomed Ankalaev

Former dual UFC champion Daniel Cormier believes Alex Pereira can succeed in the light heavyweight division, but advises the Brazilian to avoid fighting Russian Magomed Ankalaev.

“This is a match that you, as Alex Pereira, would like to avoid,” the American said in a video posted on his YouTube channel. “I think the only person he should avoid at light heavyweight right now is Ankalaev because Ankalaev can fight and we saw him fight Blachowicz, who he kept down for the last three rounds.”

A suitable opponent for the former UFC middleweight champion Cormier considers Jan Blachowicz.

“I want to see Jamal Hill vs Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira vs Jan Blachowicz”

On April 8 at UFC 287 in Miami, Alex Pereira lost his championship belt, losing in an immediate rematch by knockout in the second round to Israel Adesanya, after which he announced a change in weight category.

Magomed Ankalaev made an unsuccessful bid for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title last December with a draw against Jan Blachowicz and is currently second in the division.
