While a decision is far from made, Dana White says that the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight that will take place later this year could be the blockbuster attraction to bring the UFC to AT&T Stadium in Dallas — although, that’s just one potential option.
White promoted the UFC’s events during Super Bowl Week. He was also asked if the promotion might be interested in hosting an event at Dallas Cowboys’ home. Citing a great relationship with team owner Jerry Jones, White revealed that AT&T Stadium, which is located in nearby Arlington, Texas, could be on the short list for McGregor vs. Chandler.
“People were asking me earlier about the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight and [wondering] where it’s going to be,” White told Fanatics View. We don’t yet know, but we are trying to figure that out.
“But in order to get to [AT&T] Stadia, you need to be in the right fight. Conor and Chandler will be doing The Ultimate Fighter in this year’s season. They’re coaching it, and it’s the first time it’s going to be on ESPN the network — which will make the fight even bigger. Dallas has [AT&T] stadium as a possible venue.
“They’re in the running for the fight.”
To be clear, there is no specific location. White repeatedly stated that AT&T Stadium was a possibility, but this is far from the truth. White continues to explore all options in America and abroad, with McGregor expected to return from injury and an important post-TUF Season matchup in place for the second half.
“A fight that is this big should be seen in Madison Square Garden or T-Mobile Arena. [AT&T] Stadium or a huge stadium in London.
