Dana White named the greatest fighter in history

UFC President Dana White has explained why he doesn’t consider former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to be the greatest fighter of all time.

“The greatest fighter of all time is Jon Jones,” the head of the organization said on another edition of the Games With Names podcast. “Jon Jones is undefeated. Khabib is undefeated too, but I’d like to see him do more. Jon Jones has been doing this forever, he’s been fighting everybody in the welterweight division and now he’s beating guys in the heavyweight division.”

“He’s been out of action for three years. Muhammad Ali after a three-year hiatus was never the same again. Jon Jones came back and made Cyril Gun look like a guy who had never fought a fight in his life. Therefore, Jon Jones is the greatest fighter of all time. He’s never lost and he doesn’t know the bitterness of defeat – he’s never had that feeling”

Khabib Nurmagomedov, 35, retired in 2020 after unifying the interim and current UFC lightweight titles against Justin Gaethje, while Jon Jones, 36, successfully resumed his career after a three-year hiatus last March, finishing Cyril Gagne with a first-round guillotine choke to win the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt.
