Dana White: Jorge Masvidal street attack vs. Colby Covington: “There’s something called f ****** code”

Dana White can’t get enough of the fights between his fighters in the cage. He doesn’t have to be able to watch it on the streets.

Last month, UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal was arrested after allegedly attacking rival Colby Covington outside of a restaurant in Miami Beach, Fla. In the incident, which allegedly occurred the evening of March 21, Masvidal is accused of assaulting Covington resulting in injuries to Covington’s tooth and wrist and a $90,000 Rolex being damaged. Masvidal pleaded guilty to the charges of criminal mischief and aggravated battery.

Friday’s episode of The Pat McAfee show , White featured his views on the matter. The UFC boss made it clear that he condemns the alleged attack while also suggesting that Covington should have been prepared for potential retribution after directing personal insults at Masvidal and his family.

” I say it all the time. First of all, I don’t condone violence, or my men fighting in the street and stuff like that. “But on the flip side, when you’re dealing with a guy like Jorge Masvidal and you start talking about his family, all these fighters — listen, say what you want to say about me, you hate me, you think I’m ugly, whatever my thing is, but when you start talking about people’s families it goes to a whole ‘nother level. When you start talking about other people’s families, you might find yourself walking out of a restaurant with Jorge Masvidal.

” Is anyone shocked that he spoke s*** about his children and wife, and that you don’t think he will do it again? He’s going to do it .”

Masvidal and Covington were once training partners. They became bitter rivals as they rose through the ranks. Their feud culminated in an UFC 272 main event bout this March. It was Covington who emerged victorious via a mostly one-sided unanimous decision win and 25 minutes of action did little to ease the tensions between the two men as they continued to insult each other afterwards.

White believes that the shared history between Covington and Masvidal has only made their feud more intense and that Covington clearly crossed a line with his trash talk.

” You have to realize that these men were friends, training partners, and actually knew intimate details about one another’s lives and families. There’s a thing called the f ****** code. White stated. Many of the young and silly f ******* guys these days don’t understand it. But they should .”

learn it.
