Cyril Gun challenges Jon Jones

While the world’s top league fails to negotiate a new contract with Francis Ngannou, former interim UFC heavyweight champion Cyril Gan is poised to be the one to welcome former UFC light heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones into the division.

“Where are you, Jon Jones? March, Vegas – I’m free,” the French heavyweight wrote on the social network, referring to the American.

A heavyweight title fight between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones is reportedly set to headline UFC 285 in Las Vegas on March 4, however, a number of factors indicate that the bout may not take place. In particular, the coach of the Cameroonian heavyweight estimated the probability of organizing a fight with Jones at 50%.

In January last year, Cyril Gan suffered his first loss of his career, losing in a unanimous decision to Francis Ngannou, and in September, the 32-year-old Frenchman returned to winning mainstream, knocking out Tai Tuivasa in the third round.

Currently, Cyril Gan continues to occupy the first line in the UFC heavyweight division.

Jon Jones, 35, has not fought since February 2020, when he successfully defended the championship belt in a five-round showdown with Dominick Reyes.
