Cyril Gan will not accept Tom Aspinall’s challenge

If Tom Aspinall is going to challenge the winner of the fight between Cyril Gan and Sergey Spivak, he better be rooting for the Moldovan heavyweight, as the Frenchman has his own plan that doesn’t include immediately setting up a fight with the Brit.

“I see a better way for me and it’s definitely not him,” said the Frenchman at a press conference in Paris. “The best way for me is to do what we did all the previous years, which is to make a loud statement this Saturday: ‘I’m still here and I want to get back to the title.’ That’s the best way for me, the shortest way to get to a title fight.”

“My whole career I’ve been in a hurry. I started MMA in 2018, and six months later I had my first fight. From that point on, all I did was rush, but now I don’t want to rush. I’m going to get back in the gym and get to work on my skills, while planning my next move. I’m not going to commit to the next fight right after this fight.”

As a reminder, a heavyweight bout between Cyril Gagne and Sergey Spivak will headline this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 226 event in Paris.
