At least two big fights expected by the fans have very good chances to take place in the near future or at least in the foreseeable future.
We are talking about a mega fight for the absolute welterweight championship (up to 66.7 kg) between Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) and Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs), as well as a fight for the WBA World lightweight title holder ( up to 61.2 kg) Gervont Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs).
At the very least, Showtime Sports boss Steven Espinosa, who is involved in the negotiations, exudes optimism in this regard.
“I am very, very optimistic and confident that the (Crawford-Spence) fight will happen,” he says.
As for Davis and Garcia, Espinosa said they are also close to a deal, which is mostly worked out, but “there are some details and the issue of broadcasting.”
Recall that the fight between Terence and Errol was originally scheduled for November 19, while Gervonta and Ryan had an aim for December 10. But if the welterweights are obviously not on time, and the deadlines will have to be shifted, then the lightweights may well fight on that date.
Meanwhile, Crawford gets into a fight with Spence.
