Crawford has no chance against this Spence – top coach

One of the best trainers in the world, Cuban Ismael Salas, has no doubt that in his top form, the unified welterweight champion American Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) is the best boxer not only in his weight, but also in the world “pound”.

The mentor was convinced of this in April, when Spence stopped his Cuban fighter Yordenis Ugas in a unification bout. Errol collected WBA Super, WBC and IBF belts, expects to fight for the absolute title with compatriot Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs), the WBO title holder, by the end of the year.

Salas’ opinion: “That fight for Ugas was really very difficult. Another night, I tell you. From the corner, I saw Spence hitting. How powerful and accurate they are. I’ll tell you so. If Spence hits Crawford the same way he hit Ugas, then Terence doesn’t stand a chance. That’s exactly what I’m saying. That version of Spence is the best fighter in the division and the best pound fighter. This is definitely true. I’m not saying that Crawford is going to be a breeze. Yes, styles make fights. There is no doubt here. But I personally believe that Spence is #1 here, and Crawford is #2. I know for a fact that when they meet face-to-face, it will be a great night for boxing fans. That’s when we’ll find out which one is stronger.”

“I was preparing to fight against the version of Spence that was in the fight with Danny Garcia,” Salas does not hide. “But Ugas was a completely different fighter. Danny and Yordenis confronted Errol in different ways. Garcia thought only about how to survive and minimize the damage. And Ugas came out to win. It is for this reason that Danny got much less. This is the top level. Elite. Anything can happen here. But I’m still in shock at how much better Spence was compared to the Garcia fight…”

Spence said yesterday, “We’re going to fight Crawford!” Terence doesn’t mind, says back, “First Errol, then I’ll beat the crap out of Charlo.”
