Conor McGregor has made a statement about his comeback

Although the welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington has officially been announced as the main event of UFC 296, Conor McGregor still expects to compete in the December numbered event of the world’s strongest league.

“I’m in the process and I’m still hoping for December,” the Irishman told All Out Fighting. “It’s inevitable.”

The former UFC double champion also confirmed that his opponent is expected to be American Michael Chandler, ranked fifth in the lightweight rankings.

“Yeah, that’s the way it should be. So Chandler, sit back and wait. And shut your mouth!”

Three days earlier, UFC chief, Dana White, announced that Conor McGregor will return to the octagon next year, promising to arrange another fight for Michael Chandler if he gets tired of waiting.

Recall that the UFC 296 tournament, with which the organization will close the current year, will take place on December 16 in Las Vegas.
