Conor McGregor has been awarded a black belt in jiu-jitsu

Former UFC double champion, Conor McGregor, received his jiu-jitsu black belt, which was presented to him by his friend and mentor, John Kavanagh.

“Today I received my black belt from my coach, friend and mentor, John Kavanagh! 20 years of hard work!” the Irishman wrote on social media. “Thank you John for all these years and also to all my teammates who have been with me on this jiu-jitsu journey. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!”

“This means a lot to me. This is my life. Especially since I got this belt from John, who didn’t give out many black belts. We’ve been doing this for twenty years – that’s how long it takes to become a black belt from this man.”

This event is notable in light of a post that Conor McGregor published ten years ago.

“I want two championship golds, a black belt in jiu-jitsu, a plaque in the Hall of Fame, and 25 million in the bank. Is that really too much to ask?” the Irishman wrote in November 2013.

Thus, Conor McGregor only has to wait for inclusion in the UFC Hall of Fame, a place in which he has long been guaranteed.
