Eddie Hearn’s promotional company Matchroom does not leave attempts to organize for the British top prospect in the welterweight division (up to 66.7 kg) Conor Benn (21-0, 14 KOs) a duel against an opponent with a big name.
The day before, it became known about a new, previously undiscussed option for Conor – we are talking about the former world champion in the lower category, American Jose Ramirez (27-1, 17 KOs), who lost to Josh Taylor in May last year in a duel for the title of absolute division champion.
“We made an offer to Top Rank[to fight on July 9th at the O2 Arena in London],” says Hearn. – I like this fight. Conor himself wants to fight Keith Thurman, who I consider a very, very difficult opponent. I would like him to have another fight before Thurman, and I would be happy if it was a fight against Jose Ramirez.
At the same time, the promoter noted that if it is not possible to agree on a fight with Ramirez, then they will switch their attention to the current EBU European champion from Armenia, David Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs).
Recall that on April 16, Benn won another early victory, having dealt with the experienced South African Chris Van Heerden.
