Colby Covington replied to Khamzat Chimaev

The official contender for the UFC welterweight title, Colby Covington, who in the next fight will try to take the championship belt from Leon Edwards, commented on the statement of Khamzat Chimaev, who announced his intention to challenge the Briton.

“This dude is constantly talking shit,” said the American, talking to reporters after the UFC 286 tournament in London. “They all prefer to speak to the media, but no one dared to say it to my face or in the octagon. He said, ‘I want to fight for the welterweight title. I want to fight Colby. Man, this guy almost ended his career with a cold. He couldn’t cut the weight despite having the best pros the UFC has to offer and millions of dollars invested in his promotion.”

“And he had the easiest fight in the division, wimp Nate Diaz, and he still couldn’t make weight. He failed the weigh-in by nine pounds and laughed at it like it was some kind of fun. Yes, he’s just a laughing stock who doesn’t know how to fight. He’s unprofessional and I don’t want to hear his name anymore.”

At the same time, Chaos claims that he has never been offered a duel with a Chechen fighter.

“Officially, I was never offered a fight with him. We talked about it and I wanted this fight. I wanted to derail this hype train. Everyone made him a mighty colossus, like he was a great fighter, but from the very beginning I saw him as a weakling. I knew that he had no cardio and that I would empty his gas tank and make him give up within five rounds. They gave him the easiest fight against Nate Diaz to get him to fight me, but he didn’t even make it.”

“This guy is a clown and I don’t want to hear his name in this division anymore. May that dog-faced bastard perish in the middleweight division.”

The welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, who led the numbered British event, ended with the victory of the Briton by a majority of the judges’ votes, after which UFC President Dana White named Colby Covington as the official contender for the championship belt.
