Colby Covington addressed Islam Makhachev

Should he defeat current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, Colby Covington wants Russian Islam Makhachev, who holds the UFC lightweight title, as his next opponent.

“My number one choice, of course, is Islam Makhachev,” the American is quoted as saying by the UFC’s official website. “It’s a money fight that needs to be organized. This issue has to be resolved.”

“US vs. Russia. That’s the theme from Rocky 4. Rocky vs. Drago. Everyone talks about how he’s the best fighter in the world regardless of weight, but against me he’ll see who the real fighter is”

“He needs to stop relying on his superiority at weight and face the American champion. He needs to face Donald Trump’s favorite fighter. See you soon, Islam!”

The day before, the head of the UFC, Dana White, announced that the world’s strongest league is working on organizing a superfight that will not involve Conor McGregor.

Recall that the welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington will be the main event of UFC 296, which will be held on December 16 in Las Vegas, and Islam Makhachev plans to personally attend the event.
