Cody Garbrandt found a new rival

The matchmakers of the strongest league in the world managed to keep Cody Garbrandt on the card of the UFC 285 tournament after his opponent, Julio Arce, was injured and dropped out of the numbered event.

Informed sources close to the situation report that the American’s new opponent will be Trevin Jones, a native of Guam, who agreed on a short notice to take on the fight with the former UFC bantamweight champion.

31-year-old Cody Garbrandt is on a two-fight streak after losing a unanimous decision to Rob Font in 2021 and a flyweight TKO to Kai Cara-France. Last year, the American was scheduled to fight Rani Yaya twice, but the Brazilian was eliminated both times with an injury.

32-year-old Trevin Jones suffered three losses in a row, losing by choke to Saiidyokub Kakhramonov and losing by unanimous decisions to Javid Basharat and Raoni Barcelos.

Recall that the UFC 285 tournament will be held on March 4 in Las Vegas, and its main event will be a fight for the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt between Jon Jones and Cyril Gan.
