According to Khamzat Chimaev’s coach, the chaos surrounding the UFC 279 press conference was exaggerated, but not everyone escaped untouched.
Coach Andreas Michael posted a live Instagram comment on Thursday’s chaos in Las Vegas. He had a good time sharing his thoughts and claiming that Chimaev was a marked man on Kevin Holland.
” What happened was that Khamzat entered by himself. Then he arrived with Kevin Holland, and started the process. He gave Holland, like, an incised boot on his chest.” Michael stated. “Then they started whatever they’re doing and then the Diaz crew came in and they started doing what they were doing. Thank God .”
, no one was hurt.
A wide range of reports and rumors were generated in the aftermath of the melee which UFC President Dana White called an “absolute show”. Saturday’s line-up is set to go ahead as planned.
Michael’s video also features Darren Till, who is seen joking about getting stabbed during the backstage scrap, a subtle jab at one of the more extreme internet rumors.
Michael was not in a good mood when discussing the incident but he did criticize the behaviour of those involved.
“Darren didn’t visit the hospital, so everything was good, guys,” Michael said. “That’s what happened.
” We’re here for the fight in the cage and not on the streets. Fifty-to-1, other such things — Sportsmen, sportsmen. That’s who we are. Sportsmen. So let’s f****** be sportsmen and stop all this s***. We have a fight on Saturday and it’s the most important .”
