ex-leader P4P rating and the owner of all super middleweight belts, Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) first wanted to get even for the May defeat with WBA Super champion Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), but was forced to take the fight with the Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs). So says Mexican coach Eddie Reynoso.

Mentor approvesthat his star ward “feels great, but it’s clear that no one likes to lose. Our task is to learn this lesson, to draw the right conclusions from the defeat. This is the only way to grow, become stronger and better. Rematch with Bivol? Everyone wants to see this fight. And we are no exception. It’s not our fault that he won’t be next. The company we work with insisted on this. (apparently, we are talking about DAZN streaming). There were many different factors, but, again, we want revenge.
According to Reynoso, “The fight against Golovkin is another matter, because it is personal. We’ve already done 24 rounds (rounds 1-12 and rounds 13-24). And I think that the new fight will be as cool as the previous ones. For me, it was also personal because of the confrontation with Golovkin’s Mexican coach Abel Sanchez. But he is no longer in the Kazakh team.”
Golovkin’s new coach, Jonathon Banks, said that “defense is the key to beating Canelo.” And he also admits that suddenly Gennady is the same “alien” as Foreman and Hopkins.
