Ankalaev’s coach spoke about the fight against Santos in March
The coach of the top Russian UFC light heavyweight Magomed Ankalaev, Sukhrab Magomedov, commented on the news that his ward will fight against the Brazilian Thiago Santos in March next year.
“So far only in development. Do not rush things, ”Magomedov wrote on Instagram.
Earlier it was reported that Ankalaev and Santos will lead the card of the UFC Fight Night tournament, which will be held on March 12, 2022. The winner of the pair should be the next contender for the UFC light heavyweight belt.
Ankalaev in his last fight in October at the UFC 267 tournament in Abu Dhabi defeated the Swiss Volkan Ozdemir by unanimous decision after a three-round fight. Currently, the Russian occupies the 6th line in the ranking of the best UFC light heavyweights. In total, he has 16 wins and 1 loss in MMA.
Santos, meanwhile, is ranked 5th in the light heavyweight division. He has 22 wins and 9 losses. In October, the Brazilian defeated compatriot Johnny Walker by unanimous decision.
