Chimaev compared his wrestling to Khabib’s fight

Middleweight contender Hamzat Chimaev explained why he isn’t concerned about the wrestling skills of former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, with whom he will share the octagon this weekend.

According to the Chechen fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov clearly demonstrated the level of American wrestling when he fought Usman’s teammate Justin Gaethje in a unification bout.

“This is American wrestling – it’s very different from mountain men’s wrestling,” Borz said when speaking to reporters at a media day in Abu Dhabi. “Do you remember what Khabib did to Gaethje? I saw the video of Gaitjie fighting Usman – they were about equal, 50/50. Maybe a little bit better than Usman, because he’s heavier.”

“Khabib showed real wrestling skills, our skills. Everyone knows – fighting me is like fighting Khabib, and he showed what American wrestling is worth”

Recall that the fight between Hamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman will be the second most important event of the tournament UFC 294, which will be held on October 21 in Abu Dhabi. The winner of this confrontation will become the next opponent of the current UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland.
