Charlo is sick. And this is serious – says sidekick Prograis

American WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis (28-1, 24 KOs) commented on the long absence from the ring of the owner of the same title, but in the middleweight compatriot and close sidekick Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs).

Prograis
confirmsthat Charlo has serious mental problems: “He has some personal problems. Serious personal problems. He’s talked about a lot, but trust me the dude has been through some real shit. He’s already on the mend. But you should have seen the state he was in… He really couldn’t fight in such a state.”

The problem is not in Charlo, but in the actions of the WBC – they should have long ago stripped the champion of the title, promoted the holder of the interim belt Dominican Carlos Adames. Prograis understands this: “Yes, he is a champion and all that. That is, he has obligations. But this happens. I’m telling you, he’s on the mend. And he will return the same: disciplined and prepared. I saw him. I was surprised that with all this he keeps himself in shape and trains. I’m telling you, he’s better now.”

However, Prograis isn’t sure we’ll see the champ in action soon: “How would I know? As far as I understand, first he needs to solve all his problems. And then to understand if he wants to continue performing. He’s on the mend, but that doesn’t mean he’s okay. He is better than before. That’s all I can say.”

Rumor has it that Jermall abuses alcohol. In November, Charlo suddenly challenged the light heavyweight champion: “I want Bivol! Bivol, where are you? Bivol commented on that episode: “I didn’t sniff Charlo’s fumes.”
