Charles Oliveira pulls out of fight with Islam Makhachev in Abu Dhabi

The number one UFC lightweight, Charles Oliveira, is not ready to fight Islam Makhachev on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, and is asking for a rescheduling of the fight with the reigning division champion to November or December.

This Brazilian fighter said in an interview with sportswriter Aaron Bronsteter.

“Honestly, October is too early for me,” said the former UFC champion. “I am ready to fight in November-December, but October is too early. I ready wait. I definitely won’t be able to fight in October, but November or December suits me, so for now I’m just waiting. Let’s see what they decide. I want to be a champion again and I will be a champion, but I’m ready to wait for my chance.”

In addition to Charles Oliveira, the candidates for the fight with the Russian are the reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, as well as the winner of the fight between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, which will take place on July 29 at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City.

Recall that on November 11, the strongest league in the world will return to New York with the UFC 295 tournament, and the last numbered event of the organization this year will be the UFC 296 tournament, which will be held on December 16 in Las Vegas.
