Charles Oliveira named the condition of the fight with Alex Wolkanowski

If Charles Oliveira takes the UFC lightweight championship belt from Islam Makhachev in three weeks, he could return to the featherweight division for a superfight with Alexander Volkanovski.

“I’ve been having thoughts for a long time about moving back up to welterweight,” the Brazilian fighter said in an interview with James Lynch. “If everything goes well with Islam, I’ll go down and fight Volkanovski. But right now I’m only thinking about the fight with Makhachev.”

The former UFC champion also answered the question of whether he is ready to try his hand at welterweight.

“My future depends on a lot of factors, including financially. If everything works out well and the circumstances are right, I’ll do it, one hundred percent.”

As a reminder, the lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira will headline UFC 294, which takes place on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.
