Cejudo criticized Aspinall’s behavior after the fight with Pavlovic

Former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo believes Tom Aspinall’s overly emotional demeanor after his win over Sergey Pavlovic did not match the significance of the moment, as the Briton won the interim, not the current UFC heavyweight title.

“I watched Tom celebrate the victory and I want to tell him this – Tom, it’s only an interim title!” said “Triple Crown Champion” on another edition of his podcast. “Save those tears for when you win the real belt. Sometimes I see people act overly emotional after winning the interim title. Yes, you have a trophy now, but you might as well dip it in silver or bronze because it’s not real”

“As a competitor with experience, I have questions about their mentality. Do they really think they have reached the top of the world? I’m not picking on you, Tom. I’m just saying – save those tears until you actually hold the current title”

As a reminder, the heavyweight title fight between Aspinall and Pavlovic, which took place on Nov. 11 at UFC 295 in New York, ended at 69 seconds with a knockout loss for the Russian. The world’s strongest league made the decision to introduce an interim title after the division’s reigning champion, Jon Jones, who was set to headline a numbered show, was injured and out for at least eight months.
