Canelo could burn out ahead of Golovkin fight – ex-champ

Former world champion and current expert streaming DAZN Sergio Mora urges the public not to write off the veteran from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs), who next month will have a third fight with his antagonist from Mexico Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs).

But that doesn’t mean that
the expert considers the veteran the favorite: “After weighing all the pros and cons, I still remain in my opinion. I bet on Canelo. I might even bet on his early victory. But there are some points that really interest me. And this is, above all, an understanding of the fact that Canelo is returning to the ring after losing to light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol in May. Now imagine. On the one hand, defeat, on the other, anger at Golovkin. What if Canelo burns out? What about some kind of injury? What if he was tired of all this, after all, he has been boxing since the age of 15?

Mora promotes the fight very well: “Do you know why I personally am on edge in anticipation of this fight? Because it’s a trilogy. And if you look at the statistics, almost all trilogies ended in knockouts. So personally I’m waiting for the knockout. Especially since they both have power. Both can win by knockout. Golovkin is still that monster. And he does not need to take a steam bath weight loss. He will probably be even more powerful than before. He has only the defeat of Canelo in his liability, and even that is very controversial. Yes, he is 40 years old. But he comes into the fight on impulse after a good win (in unification over Ryota Murata).”

The previous fights between Canelo and Golovkin took place in 2017-2018: the first fight ended in a controversial draw, in the second the Mexican was slightly better.

Yesterday another ex-champ/expert stated: Get ready for Canelo to beat Golovkin unconscious. Meanwhile, a veteran from Kazakhstan stands his ground: “I’m sure Canelo cheated.”
