Canelo Alvarez Reveals At What Weight He Will Rematch With Bivol

The absolute champion of the super middleweight division (up to 76.2 kg) Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) claims that he is not going to drag the WBA Super light heavyweight title holder (up to 79.4 kg) Russian Dmitry Bivol into his weight (20-0, 11 KOs). And if they meet in a rematch, then Canelo will rise again to light heavyweight.

“If I fight Bivol again, I will do it at 79.4 kg because I don’t want any excuses,” Alvarez said. “I don’t need any excuses. So if we fight Bivol again, it will be light heavyweight.”

It is noteworthy that Canelo no longer speaks unambiguously about the re-fight, emphasizing the word “if”.

Recall that on May 8 in Las Vegas (USA) Bivol defended his title, outboxing Alvarez on points.

Under the terms of the contract, the Mexican could immediately get revenge, but he chose to first fight with Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) – the fight is scheduled for September 17.
