UFC Fight Night 180 main event
The next UFC tournament on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi awaits MMA fans this coming weekend. The UFC Fight Night 180 show promises to please the long-awaited fight in the featherweight division.
In the main event, two former UFC featherweight title contenders Ortega and “Korean Zombie” Son will meet.
The most disturbing fact for Ortega in this fight is that he hasn’t fought in nearly two years. In December 2018, as an undefeated fighter, he was defeated by then UFC champion Max Holloway, as a result of which Ortega did not advance to the fifth round by decision of the doctor. ‘T-City’ was scheduled to return a year later, but a knee injury pulled him out of his fight against ‘Korean Zombie’ at UFC Fight Night 165.
Simple Sona is less deplorable – only 10 months. In December 2019, he nevertheless entered the cage after Ortega was replaced by former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, whom the Korean impressively knocked out in the first round. Thus, Son won both of his last year’s fights by quick knockout, exactly six months before that, he destroyed Renato Moicano in 58 seconds.
Prediction for the fight
“Zombie” is a very dangerous fighter, he has good boxing, he constantly goes forward and throws combinations. He is also very good on the ground, half of his 16 victories he won by submission.
On the ground, however, Ortega is undeniably stronger. He has submission victories over such top grapplers as Renato Moicano and Cub Swanson. Therefore, the probability of his victory by submission in this fight is very high. In the stand, Ortega, although generally losing to his opponent, can hit, which proves his one-punch knockout of Frankie Edgar.
It is not known how the downtime affected Ortega, if not for such a long pause, then he would probably have looked preferable. We assume that “Zombies” will be able to apply pressure, like Holloway, and create a lot of problems for Ortega.
Son wins by knockout in the 4th round
