Bogdan Guskov challenged Anthony Smith

With his first victory under the banner of the world’s strongest league, Russian-Uzbek welterweight Bogdan Guskov wants to see his next opponent to be former UFC title challenger Anthony Smith, with whom he is often confused due to his similar appearance.

“There’s one name I’m curious about because a lot of people on my social media are saying that I look like Anthony Smith,” Guskov said at a press conference following UFC Fight Night 236. “It’s a very interesting fight for me because I respect this guy and he really lives up to his nickname ‘Lionheart.’ He’s a real top and I want to fight him. When we step in the cage, I’m going to show that we’re different. It’s nothing personal, I have a lot of respect for the guy – I have purely sporting interest”

The fight between Bogdan Guskov and Zach Pauga, which was part of the event’s preliminary card, ended at the 3:38 mark of the first round with a knockout loss for the American.

Last September, 31-year-old Bogdan Guskov made an unsuccessful debut under the organization’s banner at short notice, losing by rear-naked choke to former UFC bantamweight title challenger Volkan Ozdemir as early as the first round.

Anthony Smith, 35, has suffered three losses in his last four fights, losing by third-round technical knockout to Khalil Rountree in his most recent bout.
