Bobby Green out; ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone now expected to face Jim Miller in rematch at UFC 276

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will fight sooner rather than later after all.

Following his UFC Austin fight against Joe Lauzon being cancelled just hours prior to the event, Cerrone will now face Jim Miller in UFC 276.. His original opponent, Bobby Green, was forced off the card due to undisclosed reasons.

Multiple people who are aware of the plans for the promotion confirmed that the information was correct to MMA Fighting. This news came after an initial report by ESPN ..

Although the paper has not yet been signed, Cerrone vs. Miller appears to be being considered for a welterweight bout.

Cerrone has been on a difficult road to get back to action since the cancellations of his fights with Lauzon. Cerrone, who fell ill the day before the fight against Lauzon in May, was forced to withdraw from the contest.

Lauzon suffered a severe knee injury just before the UFC Austin weigh-ins, forcing him to withdraw from the fight. UFC President Dana White later said he wasn’t planning on rebooking the fight while promising to find something different for “Cowboy” in the near future.

It appears Cerrone will get his wish as he draws Miller for a rematch after their first meeting in 2014. Cerrone knocked out Miller in two rounds. This was the first time Cerrone had won a UFC fight. It also marked the end of the “Cowboy’s” longest winning streak.

Almost exactly eight years later, it looks like Cerrone and Miller will run it back as part of the UFC 276 card, which is headlined by middleweight champion Israel Adesanya defending his title against Jared Cannonier while Alexander Volkanovski faces Max Holloway in a trilogy for the featherweight title in the co-main event.
