Bivol will beat Beterbiev, and Canelo will refuse a rematch – coach

American-Mexican mentor Joel Diaz helped Gennady Mashyanov in the process of preparing Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) for a fight against Mexican star Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs). The fight took place in May in Las Vegas (USA), Bivol won.

The loser activated the revenge clause prescribed in the contract, but decided to first fight with his antagonist from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin – the fight will take place in September in Vegas. The fighters had previously met twice – first they tied the fight (2017), then the Mexican won minimally (2018).

“I knew that Canelo would not come out immediately for a rematch, but first fight with Golovkin,”
Diaz says. – Everything is simple here. From a business standpoint, this would not be the best move for Canelo. So I had no doubt that there would be a third fight with Golovkin. Why did Canelo make this decision? Because he can’t beat Bivol. Why does he need a second defeat in a row? Styles make fights. And stylistically, Canelo has no chance even if they fight at his weight.”

Diaz on Canelo vs Golovkin 3: It’s been 4 years since they last met. A lot of water has flown. And the most important difference is that Gennady has already grown old. So now is the perfect time for Canelo to show everyone what he’s made of. Indeed, in the first two fights, the majority believes that at first the Mexican lost, and then brought the revenge to a draw. I think Canelo should win cleanly this time. To be honest, I think he will delay Gennady until the 10th round.”

On whether a rematch between Canelo and Bivol will take place, as well as other options for the Russian: “I don’t know. Now it all depends on the actions of managers. There is talk of a fight between Bivol and Gilberto Ramirez. So let’s see how it will actually be. But in any case, I doubt that after Canelo beats Golovkin, he will have a rematch with Bivol. Fight for the title of absolute against Artur Beterbiev? Well, this is a tough fighter, very powerful, aggressive, strong, solid. But Bivol has better skills, he is more technical, he has a higher fighting IQ. To be honest, I think that Dmitry will beat Arthur – his style decides. He’s just smarter and has better footwork.”

The other day, coach Canelo reasonably noted that “Golovkin is not Bivol for you.” And the Mexican himself compared the Kazakhstani with Plant. In response, Golovkin shamed Canelo for his reaction after the Bivol fight.
