Mexican Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs), former world super middleweight champion and WBA mandatory contender in the light heavyweight category (up to 79.4 kg), suspects that the holder of the WBA Super title, Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), tried to avoid a duel with him because of the real danger of defeat.
Nevertheless, the fight will still take place at the suggestion of the organization – on November 5 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
“I have a feeling Bivol’s team didn’t want him to fight me. It’s a big fight and they know he can lose,” Ramirez says. “They wanted another fight for him, maybe a little more money for him. But everyone wants to see us fight him, not how he fights Buatsy. We are two warriors in the ring and this is the kind of fight people want to see.”
Gilberto also praises Bivol’s footwork, and Dmitry states that he is recognized in the USA and proud in Kyrgyzstan.
