Bivol to fight Buatsi in Dubai? Hearn commented on the rumors

On the sidelines, they say that the owner of the WBA World light heavyweight belt, Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), will hold the next fight against British Olympic medalist Joshua Buatsi (16-0, 13 KOs) – it was previously assumed that the champion would be required to fight with a mandatory Mexican challenger Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs).

Rumor has it that the fight Bivol vs Buatsi will take place in Dubai (UAE). The co-promoter of the Russian and the promoter of the British Eddie Hearn was asked to comment on the inside (Matchroom Boxing).

“As of today, there are no agreements,”
promoter said. – There is one important thing to keep in mind. Bivol last held a mandatory defense in March 2018. The next one was to take place 24 months later, that is, in March 2020. You yourself understand what I’m talking about. Bivol will still have to fight Ramirez.”

Despite this, Hearn will still try to make a face-to-face fight between his clients: “In any case, we have the right to submit a postponement request to the WBA, which we intend to use, because it’s no secret that we planned to do the Bivol vs Buatsi fight in October this year. This does not mean that we are against the fight between Dmitry and Gilberto. We just had other plans. In any case, the WBA has the final say.”

In July, promoter Oscar De La Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions) reassured his client Ramirez: Bivol is not going anywhere, Hearn does not solve anything. A few days later, Dmitry set priorities. Ramirez is emboldened. He says: “I will take everything from Bivol,” and also claims that the rematch between the Russian and Canelo will not take place.
