Bivol effortlessly beat Ramirez: video

Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, UAE. In the main event of the show, the Russian light heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg) Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) passed the obligatory challenger Mexican Gilberto Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs).

The Russian took the center of the ring. Ramirez tried to pull the champion on himself and counter. So-so idea, given the difference in speed. Bivol controls distance and pace. The challenger is boxing as if he is inferior to the opponent in anthropometry – sits down low, deceptive body movements, unwillingness to fight at a long distance.

Ramirez’s attempts to reach out to Bivol end with the fact that the Russian manages to first leave on a shuttle, and then also counter. The Mexican is trying to attack the body of the champion more often. The challenger resembles Anthony Joshua, who tried to outbox Oleksandr Usyk. I wonder how many rounds it will take for him to realize that this is the wrong tactic.

Bivol starts pushing Ramirez to the ropes, spuds with multi-hit combinations. In the 9th round, the challenger tried to put pressure, even pinned the champion against the ropes. But there he did not figure out how to open this protection. Bivol waited out Ramirez’s timid attack attempts, and then responded with a multi-hit combination.

The Russian passively spent the 10th three-minute period. Perhaps this is the only round that will be given to Ramirez. In the championship rounds, the challenger showed nothing. It will be strange if they give him more than 2 rounds.

Judges score: 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111. Fine.

Bivol UD 12.
