The fight for the title of absolute light heavyweight champion (up to 79.4 kg) between WBC / WBO / IBF title holder Artur Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs) and WBA champion Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) may take place at the beginning June.
As we reported earlier, referring to the words of British promoter Eddie Hearn, the sides of the boxers are negotiating a fight in early June.
Anthony Rudman, Beterbiev’s spokesman, confirmed that these were more than rumors.
“What Eddie Hearn said is true. Negotiations for a fight between Beterbiev and Bivol in June in Abu Dhabi are really going on, Rudman said. “Arthur wants to fight Bivol next, and I think he made that very clear after his fight against Yarde. He will be ready to fight Bivol in June despite Ramadan.”
“I have already seen some articles that, they say, June will be right after Ramadan and because of this the fight cannot take place. But I tell you for sure: Arthur is ready and wants to fight in June,” he claims, “If you have not forgotten, he fought Smith just in the middle or end of June. So June is not a problem. Moreover, the negotiations are carried out by promoters, Top Rank and Matchroom, and now they are in full swing.
