Beterbiev – Bivol already this year: Hearn wants a room with Arum and envelopes

The side of the Russian WBA world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) is ready to start negotiations on organizing a fight for the title of absolute division champion against WBC / WBO / IBF title holder from Canada Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KO) and hold it this year.

Despite the fact that Beterbiev’s promoter Bob Arum calls such a fight unlikely due to the conflict of interests of broadcasters ESPN and DAZN, British functionary Eddie Hearn, who is Bivol’s co-promoter, claims that the problem is far-fetched.

“For us, it doesn’t matter at all where the fight will take place. Why does he (Arum) say that? Eddie asks. “Why don’t you put me and Bob Arum in a room with two envelopes in which each will offer his price for the fight, and may the strongest win. And we’ll have a fight.”

“We don’t have a scheduled fight for Dmitry Bivol,” Hearn recalls. “So if they want to fight for the title of undisputed champion, we will be more than happy to do it right now. May the fighters win. No need to worry about the benefits of the promoters. Worry about the fighters winning. It’s a great fight, one of the best in the sport. We are happy to arrange it anywhere and will listen to any suggestions. But the problem is that there are no proposals.”

Recall that Beterbiev, unlike Bivol, already has a certainty with the next fight – it should be a mandatory defense against Briton Anthony Yarde, which is tentatively scheduled for October 22 in London.

Earlier, DAZN responded to the “ridiculous” Arum.
