Bellator fighter Moldavsky called Stalin a genius
Interim Bellator heavyweight champion Valentin Moldavsky said in an interview with SE that he considers Joseph Stalin a brilliant politician.
On January 29, early in the morning Moscow time, Moldavsky will fight for the title of the full Bellator champion with American Ryan Bader. The fight will take place at the Bellator 273 tournament in Phoenix (Arizona, USA).
What is your favorite historical character?
– I do not know. I would like to name some kind of conqueror, but they are all quite bloodthirsty.
“Military history is what usually interests people the most.
Yes, including me. Maybe Genghis Khan or Alexander the Great, one of them
— Stalin?
“Stalin is just… He can be considered anything, but he is a genius.
– Why?
— What is communism? Religion was banned, but he did so that communism became essentially a new religion. Why is Lenin lying on Red Square? Lenin lived, Lenin is alive, Lenin will live forever. Stalin replaced the cult of Orthodoxy and Christianity, made Lenin almost a god. In Tsarist Russia it was like: the Lord is in heaven, and the tsar, the emperor is on earth, as his word and will. He [Сталин] replaced God with Lenin and made himself tsar. How is it possible to force people to do all these Stakhanovite exploits so that they recycle 10 times? Only if a person is really infected, he must really believe. Don’t go to church on Sunday, but…
– It can be intimidating.
– Intimidate as well. It is precisely due to the fact that Stalin made communism practically a religion, thanks to which a person on Sunday will not go to church, but again to the factory …
“But he’s not the only one.
Yes, but there aren’t many of them. Who else?
North Korea, Mao Zedong.
— Well, out of all the billions of people who lived on the planet, how many were there? Five? Six? Ten?
– You have to dig in here. I think we can find some small state…
– Good. Mussolini, Hitler, Franco, the same Gaddafi.
But Hitler is a little different.
Hitler did the same. He is an evil genius, as they show in the movies.
“In any case, they didn’t make a god out of one person.
– Slightly different concept. Stalin did this because he studied at the parochial school and graduated from the seminary. He saw how it was building up and transferred it to the state system. You can relate to him in different ways, but the fact that he was an intelligent person cannot be put anywhere.
Is a good ruler?
– This is history will put in place. I can’t judge if he’s good. I am neither his ardent admirer nor his ardent opponent. I just know this historical period, I know what happened. In any historical period there is both good and bad. Definitely, repression is bad. But the fact that industrialization happened very quickly is good. It’s bad that industrialization was achieved, and people were dying, malnourished, and so on. There are always pros and cons, and it all overlaps. No historical event can be completely good or completely bad.
