Belal Muhammad spoke out against Khamzat Chimaev

UFC welterweight division number two Belal Muhammad, who challenged Hamzat Chimaev a year ago, has recently considered the Chechen fighter his brother and hopes “Borz” will become the UFC middleweight champion next year.

“It means a lot to me what he wrote about Palestine,” Muhammad told MMA Junkie. “He’s my brother now. If you support my people, we are united. If you’re a Muslim and another Muslim is hurt, you should feel the same pain. I feel like we’re bonded by that.”

“Now I’m on Hamzat’s team! I hope he takes the middleweight title. I hope he takes the championship belt and next year I’ll be the UFC welterweight champion, Islam at lightweight and Hamzat at middleweight. We’ll capture everything!”

Belal Muhammad will insure a welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington this weekend at UFC 296 in Las Vegas, while Khamzat Chimaev is a prime candidate to fight the winner of the middleweight title match between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis to headline UFC 297 in Toronto on Jan. 20.
